As one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter, people often ask me, “how
do you turn a hashtag into a movement?” But the honest answer is that
hashtags don’t start movements. People do.

Over the last seven years, Black Lives Matter has gone from being a
controversial statement to a rallying cry for people all over the country
who believe that real justice is a possibility for our people. It’s been
