CLCV Member,
Together, we turned out a record number of voters, elected Joe Biden and
Kamala Harris to be our next President and Vice President, and beat Big
Oil across California. A historic number of Americans voted. A surge of
young people of color turned out around the country, many for the first
time.
You made calls, texted, and got out the vote - as a result we defeated
Trump and put the first woman, the first Black woman, and the first South
Asian-American woman in the second most powerful position in the nation!
This last week was a rollercoaster of emotions and made clear how much
work we have to do. But first, we need to ensure that our new
Administration appoints climate justice champions to all levels of
government. To realize a green and just future, we need climate leaders
overseeing housing, transportation, finance, health, and more - in
addition to the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of the
Interior.
We know that the Biden Administration is already hard at work on
transition planning and announcements will be coming soon.
Help us send this message loud and clear - climate justice needs to be a
priority and integrated into all decisions. [ [link removed] ]Sign our petition and urge
President-Elect Biden to appoint bold advocates for climate justice across
his cabinet.
Our country has a long road ahead of us to rebuild and repair all the
damage that was done. But we have an opportunity to rebuild in a way that
protects us from the climate crisis, advances racial justice, and creates
good, union jobs at the same time. We need an economy that’s not just
stronger - but also green and just. We need to take on systemic racism and
tackle the climate crisis.
[ [link removed] ]CLCV Member, add your name to our petition and call for the Biden
Administration to appoint only cabinet members who will fight for bold
climate justice policies.
And last but certainly not least, we all need to be vigilant against what
Trump and Senate Republicans may try to push through before he leaves
office - from executive orders to 11th hour appointments. We’ll be
watching and you should too.
In Solidarity,
Mary Creasman

We believe that radical change is necessary and only by transforming our political system will we create the opportunity to take bold action on climate change. We elect and cultivate environmental champions, turn election victories into policy wins, hold our lawmakers accountable, and build political power for change. We inspire hope and action and fight for equity and justice for all Californians. We are in the business of changing what’s possible.
