Funding opportunity! Accepting The Transformation Fund applications beginning November 17
We are thrilled to launch the second phase of The Transformation Fund. Grants will provide $25,000 of general operating support per year for three years, for a total of $75,000 to BIPOC-led, Minnesota-based groups that use a community organizing approach to advance justice, collective liberation, and self-determination. Eligible organizations will want to tell us about how they build power and work to transform existing unjust systems or build new, more equitable ones.
We begin accepting applications through our grant portal on Tuesday, November 17. The deadline is 5 p.m. Central on Thursday, December 17.
The multi-year commitment, flexible funding, and dollar amount demonstrate Headwaters’ trust in organizations, responsiveness to movement needs, and commitment to the long-term sustainability of the field.

Uprooted: SEA Roots Community Recital
November 14 & 15 at 10 a.m.
Join us online for our community recital as the Spring 2020 SEA Roots language students present their final projects! The cohort of students have studied hard and worked on their projects throughout an 8-week course. For the first time ever, we've ended our courses to be online, and now we have learners from all over the country!

North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship Info Session
November 16 at 10:30 a.m.
The North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship is a five-month fellowship focused on Black American Cooperative Economics. North Star is centered on the history of Black cooperative economic thought and practice. Our 2021 North Star Fellowship will focus on housing cooperatives and land trust models for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. As a cohort, fellows will explore the power and landscape of resident-controlled community ownership models that are permanently affordable and provide dignified housing options for our communities. We are forming a cohort of fellows that have a vision of collective living, permanently affordable, and community-controlled land and co-operative housing that will provide a space for our communities to have access to spiritual, cultural, and economically sound options. Also new this year, folks need to apply to the fellowship in groups of two or more. No one can cooperate alone!
Building an Indigenized Future: Embracing Our Core Values

Now, more than ever, we’re thinking about how to rebuild our systems in a truly Indigenous way. Our three-part virtual event series explores this idea; each free event features a conversation between two Indigenous changemakers who are actively working to develop a positive path forward for their nations.
For the second event in our series, Cohort 9 Rebuilder Cesar Alvarez (MHA Nation) and Regis Pecos (Cochití Pueblo) discuss ways to Indigenize our future by embracing our core values. The event also includes an audience Q & A portion.

CTUL’s 2020 Gala!

Lean on Me: 2020 Community Gratitude Dinner

With more to be thankful for than ever, Isuroon is hosting our “Lean on Me” virtual Community Gratitude Event on Friday, November 20th at 6:00 p.m CST. Despite the challenges the year has presented, Isuroon has continued to serve our communities thanks to the contributions of community members and allies in Minnesota and beyond.
The event will include words from guest speakers Attorney General Keith Ellison and Minnesota National Guard's Brigadier General Sandy Best and Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo A Suárez.
