I recorded a comedy special on the shores of a lake, and proceeds benefit AAF!

WHATCorona Borealis: A Night of Comedy Under the Stars

It has been the most emotionally trying year in most of our lives, and I really wanted to tap into our pain, rage and tentative hopefulness. Most of you know I do a live, annual comedy wrap-up show, but this year there seemed to be NO WAY to do it safely, indoors, in December, in front of a live audience.

But I couldn't just give up and say, "No show this year, in the MOST IMPORTANT YEAR IN THE HISTORY OF YEARS!" So I thought outside the box. I created a DIY comedy experience that covers all the insanity of 2020. From Coronavirus, to systemic racism, to the elections that won't end. The result is a special called "Corona Borealis: A Night of Comedy Under The Stars."

I won't lie, this show is raw and real. The material is all new and wholly untested as I hadn't set foot on stage for 9 months. I have notes, there are tangents, there is pain. But there are also a lot of laughs. The show is shot in two parts.

Part One taped in late September, performed on a rickety stage I helped build, on the shore of one of Minnesota's 10,000 lakes with an audience of 20 fans watching from the water in kayaks.

Part Two will be shot THIS SATURDAY, November 14th with a small audience gathered around a campfire in the snow covered woods. I wanted to be able to respond to the election results, celebrate JoMala, and laugh about Trump's fucking tears and Rudy's dildo shop press conference. Two shows, married together become one comedy special.

I decided to release the special Thanksgiving weekend because the material is so topical and covers all the things that are sure to dominate folks’ conversations at the holiday dinner table and throughout the holiday season. My hope is that folks can watch this together as a family and experience a collective laughter exhale. Or if you have to face “EVERYTHING'S A HOAX!“ relatives, watch and use the jokes to shut their shit down.

BONUS GUEST: To truly reflect the reality of 2020, I also wanted to talk to a she-ro of mine, so within the show, I have an incredible conversation with Minneapolis Councilwoman Andrea Jenkins, the first Black transgender woman ever elected to political office, who represents the district where George Floyd’s death happened. We talk white supremacy, refunding communities, violence against women, particularly Black trans women, and how white folks can better advocate for communities of color.

Corona Borealis: A Night Under The Stars will be available on November 25th at VIMEO VOD

TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE.

The majority of Proceeds from the special go to Abortion AF!

Hope you watch and hope it provides the exhale, catharsis and laughs we all need and deserve as we say, "fuck off" to 2020 and look ahead to 2021!
