When I was hit by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan, my brothers in battle ran TOWARD the explosion to treat my injuries and send in help. These heroes are the reason that I’m still alive today.
Their actions were heroic, but they were not unique among our brothers and sisters in arms. Every single day, selfless acts like this by our nation’s military members ensure that the greatest country on Earth is able to endure and prosper.
So, especially today, I hope that if there is a veteran in your life, you will thank them for their service. And if you have served yourself, allow me to personally say: we love you and thank you.
