Today is an important day. It's a day when we honor and thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice.
As a country, we should support our veterans year-round. If you've served this country, we should have your back. That means all veterans should get the benefits that they've earned. It means that in the land of the free and home of the brave, every brave service member should have a home. And it means that if you've fought for your country, you shouldn't have to fight for a job when you complete your service.
Providing access to affordable health care, affordable housing, a full range of mental health services, and creating jobs for our nation's veterans are just some of the ways we can continue to support these heroes not just on Veterans Day, but every day.
Every year when Veterans Day approaches, I recommit myself to making sure every veteran receives the benefits they have earned and deserve. I hope you'll join me, friend.
To all veterans, no matter which branch you served in, your job path, or the years you served — we will never take for granted your bravery and selflessness. Your service is what keeps our country free and safe.
