Friends,
Today is Veterans Day, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank our nation’s veterans for their service.
So often, the men and women who serve in our armed forces will risk--and at times sacrifice--their lives for the security of our nation. It is their courage, sacrifice, and patriotism that inspires awe and provides examples for our children to follow.
And it’s not just veterans. To the families of our veterans, we owe you a debt of gratitude as well. Whether it’s enduring months of separation, uprooting lives to start in new communities, or just being a steady stream of love and support for the people this country depends on most, it’s important that we go out of our way to thank you for all that you do too.
I hope you will join me in appreciating these brave Americans for all they’ve done for this nation -- and all they continue to do.
Of course, honoring our veterans and supporting their families goes beyond an email, and beyond a single day.
While we commit to supporting those who serve our nation and defend our freedom, we still have work to do. That means ensuring veterans have access to great healthcare, solving the crisis of veteran homelessness, and creating new job opportunities for those returning to civilian life.
Our veterans are entitled to respect, care, and opportunity. That’s why I will work in Congress to get our service members the resources they need to continue defending this nation and to succeed here at home once they’ve returned.
Happy Veterans Day.
