I wanted to take a moment today to say thank you to all of our veterans for your service and your sacrifice for our country.

Here in Arizona we have over five hundred thousand veterans. Military service and taking care of our veterans is deeply ingrained in our DNA.

As a veteran myself, it's so important to me that we ensure veterans receive the benefits they've earned through their service.

During my time in the Navy, I flew 39 combat missions in Operation Desert Storm.

When I flew in combat I never flew alone. I had a bombardier-navigator with me on every mission. I often had a wingman as well and regardless of who's aboard the aircraft, accomplishing any mission requires a team.

I realize that we need a team in Congress to stand by our veterans and ensure they have the support they need to succeed after transitioning from military service.

So Happy Veterans Day to all of the veterans and their families. Today we recognize your service to our nation and say thank you.
