Team,
This Veterans Day when we honor America's service members who wore the uniform of their country, our ceremonies and gatherings will look very different than last year or years before. But even though we may be socially distant or meeting on Zoom, our thanks and gratitude is no less profound.
I am the proud grandson of three World War II veterans - my grandfathers were pilots, and my grandmother served in the Coast Guard - and I grew up hearing stories of their service. While we can never fully repay our veterans for the sacrifices they made for our country, we can fight to live up to the promises we've made to them.
We have a duty to ensure we treat the people who have served our country with dignity and respect. That means providing our veterans and their families with quality health care, mental health services, affordable housing, and education opportunities. And it also means ensuring the urgent needs of veterans aren't ignored as our nation grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Because no veteran should have to fight another battle when they return home to get the help they have earned.
To all our veterans, thank you for serving our country and the sacrifices you've made to keep our country and democracy safe. Serving you in Congress is an honor, and I will always fight to make sure you have the support you deserve.
Thank you,
Chris Pappas
