The Night to Fight Hunger Gala is an exciting opportunity for the Coalition and its supporters to come together and celebrate work that not only helps families maintain their health, but that educates thousands about the experiences of our neighbors who battle hunger everyday. We asked some of the hunger fighters who have and continue to work in the anti-hunger movement to share their thoughts about the importance of fighting food insecurity. Join us to see and hear more stories just like these! TOMORROW, November 12th at 6:30pm!

Jeanette Pringle—Board Member, SNAP Volunteer

“Since early 2020, I was elected to become a Board of Directors member, and since 2018, I have been a SNAP Hotline volunteer. This has been a rewarding experience for me working with this dedicated Hotline staff.

As a retired Social Work administrator, over the past 30 years, I have worked with many families with children who have needed emergency food resources and the Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger organization could always be relied upon to assist our needy clients who were having a short-term food crisis."

Anne Rosenberg—SNAP Volunteer

Answering the SNAP hotline allows me to interact with people trying their very best to provide for their families. There is so much food insecurity in this country—this is one of the ways I can help people with such a basic need. I'm honored to be able to work with such a dedicated staff.”

Pastor Linda James—Food Pantry Partner

"New Beginnings Pentecostal Church has been honored to serve as a resource for families in need. We continue to have a heart for our community as we strive to be a blessing to those in need. Partnering with the Hunger Coalition has been a critical resource to our program and continued success."

Yvette Palmer—Former CAH Board Member

"Our food pantry and soup kitchen, Helping Hands for the Hungry, with the help of the Coalition’s food rescue program, continues to serve our clients with a grab and go bag of a meal: fresh produce, protein and staple food items. Our clientele has increased.  They have said, 'thank you for risking your health to help us.'"

Noelle Dames—Former CAH Community Educator (2012-2019)

"As former community educator, I connected the Hunger Coalition's partners and clients with food resources and opportunities to make their voices heard. My motivation to support this work is [my] childhood experience with food insecurity. Nobody should have to endure the sacrifices my mother made after overcoming [the] stigma around hunger, only to be denied benefits.

Now more than ever, it's critical to help neighbors obtain and retain SNAP and emergency food, while protecting these programs. As the United Nation's World Food Programme noted upon receiving the 2020 Nobel Prize, 'food is the best vaccine against chaos.'"
