Yesterday President-elect Biden
announced ([link removed]) his coronavirus task force ([link removed]) . He did so as a record133,000 ([link removed]) new infections were reported, and for the sixth day in a row more than 100,000 cases were reported. Americans have now suffered 10 million infections and nearly 240,000 deaths. Infections are rising in43 states ([link removed]) , and 19 states reported record-high hospitalizations this weekend.


Which is why these continued delays around the transition process by the Trump Administration are so costly to American lives. As if we haven’t lost enough.


Juxtapose that to four years ago today, when President Obama and Vice President Biden met with Trump and Pence to ensure a peaceful transition of power.

CNN’s Jim Sciutto ([link removed]) : “Four years ago today then-VP Biden met with VP-Elect Pence to ensure a ‘seamless transfer of power’.”




Meanwhile:
* Trump’s administrator at the General Services Administration (GSA) is refusing to authorize President-elect Biden’s transition.

NBC News ([link removed]) : “The head of the General Services Administration has yet to recognize the incoming Biden administration — a delay that could have consequences for the president-elect's plan to move swiftly on the coronavirus.”


* Trump’s GSA administrator has a long history of making controversial decisions to defend Trump, including on the lease of his D.C. hotel.


* This could undermine Vice President Biden’s ability to combat the coronavirus as it surges to new records across the country.

NBC News’s Monica Alba ([link removed]) : “The U.S. reported 133,819 COVID cases Monday, setting a record high for daily infections, per @NBCNews. It’s the first time cases have crossed 130K in one day & the 6th day in a row the U.S. has seen more than 100K in a day. It’s the 9th daily record set nationwide since 10/22.”

Despite the frivolous tactics by the Trump Administration, we remain focused on moving forward. And while the delay prevents the Vice President's transition team from meeting with the White House coronavirus task force and government health experts, we have a leadership team that’s persisting. Because with over 76 million votes, President-elect Biden has won more votes than any presidential candidate in history and he is building an operation that will be ready to deliver for the American people.

Counting Every Vote and Defeating Trump

In an interview ([link removed]) with NPR this morning, DNC Chair Tom Perez discussed this historic election and defeating Trumpism. “our goals are to defeat Trump and to defeat Trumpism. Defeating Trump required 270 electoral votes or more, and we succeeded in that. Defeating Trumpism is a longer-term challenge because Trumpism predates Trump. And I can think of no better person to lead that challenge than the president-elect. He is a uniter.”



** Trump’s Legal ‘Strategy’ Is a Total Fraud

The Republican noise and the actions of their top Administration officials to delegitimize the election results is designed to shake American faith in voting. We need you to remain consistent counter messengers and remind our communities of the facts:

* This was not a close election: President-elect Biden won by nearly 5 million votes and counting, and is on track to win 306 electoral votes.
+ Trump vowed to file baseless claims even before the election happened.
+ Trump lost in 2020 by a bigger margin in swing states than he won in 2016.


* The Trump campaign’s legal strategy isfailing ([link removed]) because there is no evidence to back up their baseless claims
+ Trump’s lawsuits have beenrejected ([link removed]) in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and Nevada.
+ Legal experts agree ([link removed]) Trump’s latest suit in Pennsylvania has little chance of succeeding and offers little evidence to back its claims.

* Trump’s lawsuits aren’t serious — they are an attempt to distract and delay the inevitable.
+ Because they can’t win in court, Trump’s allies have resorted to desperate press conferences where theyrefuse to identify themselves ([link removed]) and feature aconvicted sex offender ([link removed]) outside a landscaping business.
+ Even Fox Newswon’t cover ([link removed]) the campaign’s lies, while law firmsworry ([link removed]) about representing Trump’s campaign.
+ Trump’s lawsuits are just another of his scams — they’re being used to raise money topay off campaign debts ([link removed]) andlaunch a PAC ([link removed]) .


** The Biden Coalition Creates Record Turnout
------------------------------------------------------------
* With over76 million votes ([link removed]) , President-elect Biden has won more votes than any presidential candidate in history.
+ Biden beat Trump by nearly 5 million votes and counting, and is on track to win 306 electoral votes.
+ Biden’s margin over Trump is bigger than the population of 26 states.


* Biden rebuilt the “blue wall” and won Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
+ Biden won Michigan by 147,000 votes, more than 10x Trump’s margin in 2016.
+ Biden received 225,000 more votes in Wisconsin than Trump in 2016.
+ Biden won the Philadelphia suburbs by 50% more than Democrats in 2016.

* Biden is going to flip Arizona and Georgia for the first time in decades.
+ Latinos in Arizona reported the highest vote share for Biden of any state. The Latino vote in Arizona was over 75% for Biden.


* Biden successfully built the Biden coalition — African American and Latino voters, suburban women, and independents.
+ Biden won 91% of the vote in majority-African American precincts in Milwaukee and Racine, WI, and Minneapolis, MN.
+ In Wayne County (Detroit), Biden overperformed 2016.
+ We saw record turnout among Latino voters across the country. Latino voters helped Democrats flip Senate seats in Arizona and Colorado.


Biden-Harris Transition

The transition is responsible for ensuring that the transfer of power between the current administration and the Biden-Harris administration is successful. Led by President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, co-chairs, a diverse advisory board, and respected leaders and staff from across sectors, the transition team is preparing to help President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris meet the urgent challenges facing our nation on Day One.


As publicly announced today ([link removed]) the Biden-Harris transition team posted the names of roughly 500 people who will work with the different government agencies.
