Hi, there --
"When Vice President-elect Kamala Harris walks into Cabinet meetings and other important rooms, what will she bring with her as the second most powerful public voice in the nation?"
POLITICO asks an important question. Will Vice President-elect Harris be a mostly ceremonial figure in the executive branch, as many vice presidents have been throughout history? Or will she have the opportunity to command real power -- to build on her work as a senator and lead us into a new era of smart policy and compassionate leadership?
We want the latter. One way to guarantee that VP-elect Harris commands the authority she deserves in the next administration would be to put her in charge of the coronavirus response -- which is currently and disastrously run by Mike Pence.
All across the world, leaders are doing a better job of managing COVID than Mike Pence and Donald Trump. The United States now has the most active cases, the most total cases, and the most confirmed deaths from COVID-19 of any country in the world. Despite having some of the world's best doctors and medical infrastructure, our country is cratering under this pandemic. And giving Kamala the reins could be a great way to help our country heal under competent leadership. But we have no idea what our supporters think about the idea -- would you rather see someone else in charge? Tell us:
Do you want Kamala Harris to lead the COVID-19 response?
