Hello,

"If Biden is elected, conservatives will be energized, not retreating. Trump will keep tweeting, and new scandals from his presidency will keep unfolding for well into 2022. By the time that all chaos and nonsense runs out, Trump could be running again for 2024."

These were the cautionary words of political veterans and media advisers who warned The New York Times that we would experience a deeper cultural shift after this election if Biden won. With his victory secured, their prescient warning could come to fruition.

Donald Trump's divisive presidency has brought identity politics to the forefront of our national conversation -- and as we saw in 2016 and throughout this election cycle, American apathy is the greatest challenge to our democratic values.

We're worried that, as political experts have suggested, news outlets will "cool off" as Americans, especially Democrats, turn their attention away from denouncing Trump and find other things to do -- giving Trump and his far-right base the perfect environment to rebuild support.

Many Americans are already turning away from politics, thinking that the work is done. Your support has been crucial in this election, but today we need to know if you are committed to continuing to drive progress for our country, or if your commitment to democracy ends with Trump's presidency. Please, tell us now:

Will you continue caring after Trump is out of office?
