Dear GLSEN family,
This past Saturday was a remarkable day in history.
I hope that, like me, you're feeling hopeful and a powerful sense of resolve about the work ahead: Now is the time to rebuild and repair our schools so that every LGBTQ+ child finds safety and liberation in education.
The election results represent a resounding defeat for an administration that attacked LGBTQ+ people at all the intersections of identity and experience, at every opportunity. All of us can now move forward with greater hope to continue advancing justice for LGBTQ+ students in our nation’s schools.
But we cannot allow ourselves to become complacent. The upcoming struggles will take all the resources we can assemble. If you’re able, can you support GLSEN and chip in towards our efforts to continue our fight? [[link removed]]
Every one of you has been part of making this possible, and I am so grateful. And every one of you has a powerful role to play in the work of rebuilding and repairing ahead. We can’t ignore the fact that some people out there right now are dangerously disappointed by these results. They must see that we are here and on guard, ready to protect LGBTQ+ youth. The work starts today.
We may not feel ready at this moment, but I promise you that we are the ones we have been waiting for.
We at GLSEN will continue to support every student, parent, educator and policymaker working to make our schools places of respect and affirmation for every student. We will play a lasting role in ending anti-LGBTQ+ bias and violence for good. Together, we have created a community built on our collective commitment to action for LGBTQ+ youth, and a better future for them and for us all.
Make a donation to join the fight and support LGBTQ+ students today! [[link removed]]
With gratitude and in solidarity,
Eliza Byard
