John, I'm reaching out to my most loyal supporters with one final request. I just finished sorting through my campaign bills and I'm still $34,092 in the red. I wish I didn't have to ask, but I refuse to accept that only people with millions in the bank should run for office. Can you chip in to help me quickly pay off this campaign debt? >> [link removed]

Let me explain, John:

I know we didn't get the result we wanted, but I'm so very proud of the campaign we ran. One that never sold out and came within inches of winning powered by grassroots donors.

I never liked asking you for money.

I hated that to unseat an entrenched GOP Republican like Don Bacon would take millions of dollars.

And I've learned first hand why it is hard for regular people to run for office: Taking on campaign debt is expected and almost always necessary to win.

I'm not going to lie, this system is messed up. And I look forward to continuing to fight so people like you and me can run for office without the fear of financial ruin. But now I'm humbly asking: Will you chip in $5, or whatever you can afford, to help me pay off my final debt? >> [link removed]

John, when I first announced I was running to unseat Don Bacon, I promised I would fight for hard working folks like you and me.

Because I understand what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck, unlike most of our elected officials.

I knew that, unlike many wealthy candidates, I had no financial safety net to fuel my campaign with.

I knew I wouldn't accept a cent of corporate PAC money because politicians in Washington have been bought and sold for far too long.

I refuse to have regrets for running this campaign the right way. And I nearly unseated Bacon because grassroots donors like you believed in me, and chipped in to support what I was fighting for.

Even a couple of dollars will go a long way towards helping my family and I pay off this debt and help prove that people like me have just as much of a right to run for office. Can I count on you one last time? >> [link removed]

As always -- thank you,
