Hi supporter

In the last couple of weeks a handful of Federal MPs have stood in the Australian Parliament and said they support the introduction of compulsory assessments to the NDIS.

One told Parliament that people’s treating doctors and allied health professionals could not be trusted to conduct assessments or write reports because they had “sympathy bias”.

Another said it was the only way to make sure the NDIS was fair and consistent.

While yet another said he did not believe there was an “outcry” about these assessments - because NO ONE had contacted his office to say so.

But we know different.

We have heard from thousands of people with disability and their families who are worried about what these new assessments will mean for them.

We’ve heard all your concerns and stories. Now it’s time for MPs to hear them too.

Will you take the time to email or call your local MP [[link removed]]?

Say no to the new NDIS assessments [[link removed]]

MPS are elected to represent us in Parliament.

But they can’t do that if they don’t know what is important to us.

So it’s time for you to have your say.

Tell your MP why you don’t support the new NDIS assessments! [[link removed]] And in other news …

We know there has been a lot happening lately. And it can be hard to stay on top everything. So we’ve been keeping a good look out and have all the latest news on our website [[link removed]].

We have had a good dig through all the information the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has released lately about the new NDIS assessment process. We’ve got a summary of what we think it all means [[link removed]] – and what we think should happen next.

The NDIA and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission were also in the hot seat at Senate Estimates recently. We tuned in to hear what they had to say [[link removed]] – and found out what the Commission plans to do with their new funding, how the NDIA have been clearing their backlogs lately and just how many people participated in an evaluation of the new NDIS assessment process (hint: not many). You can check it out all their answers on our website [[link removed]].

And we have an article from our good friend Dr George Taleporos about the latest investigation into the horrific death of Ann Marie Smith. George tells us why the latest report missed the mark [[link removed]] – and what he thinks really needs to be done to keep people with disability safe from abuse and neglect.

That’s about it for now.

As always, thank you for everything you do.
