Dear John,
|
Before we look ahead to the new Congress, we must first urge current members of Congress (incumbents and those voted out of office) to finish their legislative session with their constituents’ interests — not the special interests — top of mind. Congress has the opportunity to pass a number of bills now pending in the lame duck session that will provide Americans much needed economic relief from the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, boost Social Security benefits, give seniors an emergency 3% Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) and lower prescription drug costs for millions of Americans.
Any one of these bills could do so much good for the American people. But Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell continues to block meaningful relief for American workers and retirees, and he’s exacerbated the suffering of millions of older Americans and their families during this crisis.
That's why your backing is urgently needed right now! Please make a donation of $10 or $5 to help us remind all members of Congress that they still have a job to do — and that means representing their constituents’ interests at a time when our country continues to reel from the physical and financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
As you know, in addition to being especially vulnerable to the virus, millions of older adults are finding it increasingly difficult to afford rising grocery prices, housing expenses and prescription drug costs. On top of that, many older Americans are at a high risk of getting seriously ill if they contract the coronavirus.
So there is still so much work to be done in the 116th Congress! Please give what you can today to help us launch this urgent campaign in the lame duck session of Congress to protect the health and financial security of workers and retirees!
