Hi John,

AXIOS: “The likelihood of a Biden presidency and a closely divided Senate means that nothing big is likely to happen in health care for at least the next two years.”

The conservative 6-3 majority in the Supreme Court might soon rule to strike down the Affordable Care Act (ACA), leaving millions of Americans without insurance during a global pandemic.

The ACA requires health insurers to cover essential health benefits for women such as maternity care and mammograms. It also prevents gender discrimination in health care premiums -- before the ACA, women paid as much as 81% more than men for the same plan. Striking the law down would be a significant blow for women’s rights and deny health care access to low-income families across the country.

As AXIOS has reported, if Mitch McConnell keeps control of the Senate, Republicans will be able to block any Democratic efforts to provide a safety net without the ACA. We MUST make it clear that the American electorate supports extensive health care legislation and leaders who will fight to protect our health care, not dismantle it.

That’s why we’re working to support the countless women across the country who are advocating for the progressive policies that will put us first. But we’re failing to meet our post-election goals right as Trump’s majority on the court prepares its first blow.
