The last few days have been a whirlwind. If you felt like you needed to lie down and take a second, you are not alone. 2020 is not done with us yet and we are all just along for the ride.
This newest ride is taking us to Georgia. I told you on Friday that we'll be working there, now I'm going to quickly tell you what we'll be doing and how you can help.
- During the general election we sent 10,000 English and Spanish voter guides to shelters, churches, food banks, jails, barber shops, and more across 12 states. Well, now we'll be sending thousands of guides just to Georgia. They'll be at the printers by the end of the week. You can help us get these out in two ways:
- Donate to help us print and ship more guides.
- If you are in or know of an agency, shelter, or organization in Georgia that needs guides, email their information to [email protected]
- Our field staff and volunteers are getting IDs, registering voters, helping voters request absentee ballots, and arranging transportation across the state. IMPORTANT: The GA voter registration deadline is Dec 7 and ALL VOTERS must re-request an absentee ballot even if they received one for the general so if you are one of those people, REQUEST YOUR BALLOT NOW. You can help by:
- Volunteering if you are in Georgia. Email [email protected].
- Spreading the news about registration and ballots, we are operating with very tight deadlines. You can find graphics and updated information at @spreadthevoteus on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Donate to help us retain field staff and provide transportation.
- STV is the only organization actively getting IDs across the state of Georgia and we know very well how many voters have no idea that they need IDs or how to get one. This is one of the rare occasions when STV is sending out postcards, this time with vital ID information, and texting over 300,000 young voters of color around the state.
- If you're interested, email [email protected] to sign up.
- Through our Vote By Mail in Jail program we are getting in touch with jails across the state of Georgia to sign them up to register their incarcerated citizens and help them request absentee ballots.
- If you have a relationship with a GA jail or know someone who does, please email [email protected].
- Donate to help us print and ship voter registration and absentee ballot request forms, envelopes, and stamps.
These are the foundations of our runoff ground game. We have fewer than two months to get as many people as we can to the polls. If you can, jump in, lend a hand, or send us a few dollars and let's get to work.
