We still have work to do. Indivisibles,
Did something happen this weekend? We couldn’t help but notice the celebrations happening all over the country.
Oh, wait...
We’ve been working towards beating Trump for so long that it feels surreal that we’re finally here. What makes it better is that this victory was delivered through groundbreaking voter turnout -- President-elect Biden is the first candidate in history to receive over 75 million votes. We’ve spent the last four years trying to be heard over the sound of Trump’s bigotry and lies, and the people have spoken.
Your organizing and outreach were worth it. We didn’t just beat Donald Trump -- we elected a woman of color as our vice president and picked up House and Senate seats along the way.
We came into this election with big goals, and even if we didn’t get everything we hoped for, that’s not to say that we didn’t take massive strides towards justice. Riding the wave of these victories, Indivisibles are already mobilizing to fight for control of the Senate and to influence the Biden transition.
Yes, we’re celebrating the end of the Trump years, but we’re not stopping: we’re also building on this momentum to help us secure the wins we need in 2021 and beyond. Between the ongoing race for control of the Senate, the Supreme Court hearing a case to determine the future of the Affordable Care Act, and the fight to secure COVID-19 relief, we can’t afford to take this time for granted. Our movement is built on resistance, and we need to harness that power for the challenges ahead.
We still have work to do, which is why we’re inviting you to debrief the election and talk about our strategy moving forward during our first post-election National Activist Call tomorrow night at 8 pm ET. Join us and other Indivisible activists to reflect on our impact, share group stories, and chart a path forward. Make sure to register so we know we can count on you being on the call:
As you can imagine, we have plenty to talk about. While we spent the last few months preparing for a wide range of scenarios that could emerge from the election, there have been some unexpected twists. We’re busy firming up our strategies, and you should expect to hear more about our plans in the next few days.
We hope you join us tomorrow night to celebrate the journey that brought us here and strategize about the wins yet to come.
With that, we leave you with a video that honors your hard work and previews what’s next for our movement:
In solidarity, Indivisible Team
