Lizzie Pannill Fletcher for CongressToday is a joyful one, as we celebrate all we have accomplished in this election for our community and our country!
Our victory in TX07 would not have been possible without the hard work, the dedication, and the commitment of everyone who has supported this campaign. And that's because this campaign is a true coalition of people from across our diverse and dynamic community who want to bring our values to Washington to help our community and our country thrive.
After spending the last two years as your Congresswoman, and with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House, I am optimistic that we can bring our country together, work with unity and purpose for all Americans, and bring our community's unique and important voice to Washington. And that's what this campaign in 2020 was all about.
To everyone on the campaign team that is #TeamLizzie, I could not be more grateful or proud -
Of the more than 1,000 volunteers in our field program who made more than 500,000 phone calls, sent more than 500,000 texts, hung literature on tens of thousands of doors, talked to voters everywhere, and delivered thousands and thousands of yard signs to voters across the district.
Of the many thousands of people who contributed their resources to this effort, and who asked others to do so as well, to help us get our message out to voters. We raised almost $7 million in this election cycle. That is truly a staggering amount, which we put to good use to bring home a victory last Tuesday.
Of our campaign staff -- who had the most incredible energy and drive -- not just to win, but to change our country for the better and to empower people to know that they can do the same. Thank you to Molly, Maddie, Jen, Renata, Bricen, Helen, Katie, Maggie, Tiffany, Connor, Jerry, Patrick, Shelby, Kim, Jasmine, Maddie, Merci, Rocio, Andrea, Anna, Ragen, Erin, Sarah, and all of our fabulous interns!
Of everyone who worked to make our victory possible.
And I will work every day to make them all proud to be a part of this effort.
We have accomplished something wonderful for our community and our country through our work together. Our next task is to bring everyone together for the good of our city, our county, our state, and our country. And I know we can.
We are facing some real challenges at this moment. And we have a lot of rebuilding to do - starting with trust in our government and in each other. It is on this point that I am reminded of Congressman John Lewis.
While there is much to say about his tremendous legacy, what I think of today is how throughout his life he never gave up on his belief in our country, in our Constitution, and in our fellow citizens. And we can't either. With the inspiring coalition that has come together not just for this campaign but for this country -- I know we won't.
Together, we can do anything,
