Last Tuesday, Illinoisans rejected a ballot measure that would have switched their tax plan from a flat income tax to a graduated income tax, significantly raising taxes on the residents of the state. Liberal Illinois Governor Pritzker wanted it to pass so badly that he even donated tens of millions of dollars of his own money to a group leading the charge in advocating for the bill.
Those against the initiative argued that it would make it easier for liberal-led Illinois to raise taxes on residents and would further harm businesses, many of whom are already leaving for conservative-led Indiana due to the state’s lower taxes and less regulation.
This is a win for the people and a win for the state. Citizens chose small government over large, lower taxes over higher, and less government interference in everyday lives instead of more.
Sincerely,
Casey
