Dear Friend,
Over the weekend, we as a community were able to catch our breath for a moment as we celebrated a victory that gives us an opportunity to keep on building a brand new world. Our most sincere hope is that the joy we feel reinforces the idea that the power of the people is stronger than the people in power.
On October 30th, we gathered virtually for the first installment of our Evening Over Violence 2020 Series ([link removed]) and were reminded of how critical it is to use this moment as an opportunity for transformation.
This week, we invite you to continue these important conversations in our second installment, titled “Love as a transformative force.” The evening is inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr’s “Where Do We Go from Here,” a piece written in 1967 that continues to resonate with its relevance more than five decades later.
“Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice. Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.”
We hope this joy reignites the courage needed to continue building brave spaces within ourselves and beyond. Let’s remember that we have been a continuously burning light, illuminating the many paths forward and igniting others so that we all, collectively, can be brave.

Over the past five decades, Peace Over Violence has been committed to social service, social change and social justice. For 50 years, we have grown and transformed to meet the needs of the diverse communities we serve, and now we are faced with one of the most extraordinary times in recent history. As we anticipate an increased need for violence intervention and prevention community support services, we must look at centering our communities in love, but not just any kind of love. We are talking about a love that is a transformative and visionary force. A love that will guide us to a society that fosters well-being.
