John – Thank you.
From Day 1, I have asked you to trust me with your vote and to trust me with your voice. Now, I am heading back to Washington as your Congresswoman – for a second time – and I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity! It is such an honor to be your voice at the table.
I thank every person who believed that we are better together. I thank every person who organized, mobilized, and helped get our positive, unifying message out across this sprawling, diverse district. That is not an easy task in the best of times. Doing it in the middle of a global pandemic is especially challenging. But because of YOUR support, we did it. We did it safely. And we did it well! This victory was possible because we came together to believe in something better.
Now I am thrilled to be heading back to Washington to work with a BIDEN/HARRIS ADMINISTRATION!!
Together, we made history this year. Not only did this election push participation in our most precious civic duty to new heights, recording the highest voter turnout in 100 years and garnering President-elect Biden more votes than any candidate in American history, but at his side is Vice President-elect Kamala Harris – the first female, the first biracial, the first Black and first Indian American Vice President of the United States!! And we can’t forget Major the first rescue dog to live in the White House.
Perhaps even more importantly, this year Americans united around our shared values of empathy, service, justice, and equality. I am PROUD to have an incoming president and vice president who lead with kindness, thoughtfulness, and fairness and who see the good in every person. After enduring an unprecedented pandemic, an economic collapse, and a political process that has only sharpened our divisions, I look forward to the steady leadership of President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris to get our country out of this crisis and help our nation heal.
I’ve already started on my list of issues to tackle in January… Addressing the COVID-19 crisis, access to affordable healthcare for everyone, quality education for all, food security, a cleaner environment, sensible gun reform, social justice, and so much more. I cannot wait to get to work with this administration to make real progress.
But in the meantime… My campaign would not have been possible without all the support I received from my family, friends, and YOU – every single person who volunteered, donated, spread the word, and VOTED!
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
Please stay safe and continue to stay engaged.
– Jahana
