Democracy (Still) Needs Us

John,

We've organized. Registered new voters. Run for office. And last week, #PeopleLikeUs won their elections in historic numbers! But now that the election is over, what comes next?

Today at 5:00PM ET, some of the badass newly elected #PeopleLikeUs will stop by The Tea to debrief from the election and share how we can use this moment to build our movement!

November 2020 The Tea

We'll be joined by Samba Baldeh, the first Muslim elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly and the first Black man to represent Dane County in the legislature; Naquetta Ricks, the first Liberian American elected to a U.S. State Assembly and first African immigrant in the Nevada legislature; Zulma Lopez, an advocate for #PeopleLikeUs, attorney, and first-time candidate elected to the Georgia State House; and Melody Hernandez, a NALpista, organizer, and first responder who was just elected to the Arizona State House. Moderated by our founder and president, Sayu Bhojwani, these bold newly-elected leaders will share their thoughts on the election, what they learned on the campaign trail, and how we can work together to keep strengthening our democracy. Make sure you're at this can't-miss conversation!

This moment is so important for our movement. Working together, we have the power to change politics as usual and ensure our communities are represented and included at every level of our democracy.

So what do you say? Are you ready to help decide what's next?

Hope to see you tonight,

The NALAF Team
