Hi there,

"The tyranny of the executive power will come in its turn, but at a more distant period."

Thomas Jefferson wrote those words in 1789. 231 years later, his prediction has come true.

Donald Trump started his political career as a racist sideshow carnival barker who too many, myself included, initially dismissed as a nuisance and a distraction. After his upset victory, he grew into the single worst president this country has ever seen. His policies have separated families, trampled on human rights, cost us our precious reputation on the world stage, and made us all question what it means to be an American.

Now, this worst president -- this defeated president -- has grown even more dangerous by refusing to cede power after a democratic election.

We don't need his permission to remove him from office. His term will end on January 20, 2021, whether he likes it or not. Joe Biden has intimated that the military could become involved if Trump tries to keep living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue -- and maybe they will.

But I don't want that to happen. I don't want things to get violent. I don't want to dignify this man by deploying our armed forces against him. I want Trump to look the American people in the eye, admit that he lost fair and square, and shuffle back off to Mar-a-lago to await a call from the IRS about his taxes.

The best way for us to ensure that's how this ends is by mobilizing the American people in untold numbers and by uniting leaders in Congress -- this one and the next -- so that both a majority of the American electorate and their leaders are united against Donald J. Trump.

Organizing a unified resistance like that will take a lot of work. It will take time and money we don't have. But we're doing it anyway, because the very bedrock of our nation is being eroded by the most foul man to ever step foot in the Oval Office. And we could do more with your help.

So please, pitch in what you can now. Call it the "Trump Concession Speech" fund. Help us do the vital work of rallying citizens and representatives around this cause. Help us achieve a peaceful transition. You voted him out -- give now to make sure he leaves for good. >> [link removed]

It's been surreal for me to even ask you for help with this. Thank you for stepping up in these uncertain times to defend our core values. Generations after us will tell the story of how we responded when a tyrant tried to burn our Constitution.

I can't wait for them to hear how you saved it.

Pete Aguilar
