Hello,
In the final days of October, Republicans should’ve provided suffering Americans with much-needed COVID-19 relief.
Instead, they bypassed their own precedent and performed a rushed confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to SCOTUS -- and they aren’t apologizing for it. Mitch McConnell had the audacity to call Barrett’s swift appointment a “huge success for the country.”
More like a huge success for the far-right, since they now hold a 6-3 majority on our highest court.
To restore balance and enact some much-deserved payback, some Democrats are calling for Biden to consider expanding the Supreme Court -- which is permissible under the Constitution. After denying his support throughout the election cycle, Biden has now promised Americans that he will establish a bipartisan commission to provide recommendations on ways to overhaul the judicial branch.
The commission might get us a step closer toward balance in SCOTUS, but it’s no guarantee that it will end in the kind of substantial change an expanded Court would bring. We’re reaching out to you to get a sense of Democrats’ priorities when it comes to our judicial system. Tell us now:
Are you in favor of expanding the Supreme Court?
Thank you for providing your critical input,
