U.S. Navy Veteran and COVID-19 Unemployment Relief Recipient

"After serving in the U.S. Navy for five years, I became a nurse working with private duty cases.

But when COVID-19 hit, I had to stop taking patients. I'm in a high-risk category for the virus, and I have a son who has asthma.

I simply couldn't take any chances ...

But it wasn't long before money ran out.

Thankfully, DAV was there.

I was able to put food on the table for my three teenagers. I didn't have to worry about how I was going to feed my family.

As a veteran and a nurse, I've never underestimated the importance of lending a helping hand -- I just never thought it'd be me who needed one.
