Joe Biden and Kamala Harris -- President Elect and Vice-President Elect

Celebrations Erupt as Presidential Election is Called for Biden on Saturday

Four days after the polls closed in the 2020 Presidential election, television networks finally concluded the Biden/Harris ticket had built insurmountable leads in enough states to ensure a victory in the electoral college. Donald Trump had a sizable lead in Pennsylvania as in-person vote counts were announced on Tuesday night, but that lead evaporated as the absentee ballot count flowed in over the next several days. As television networks announced Saturday that Biden had built up a lead that Trump could not possibly overcome, they added Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes to the total projected for the former vice-president pushing him past the 270 votes threshold needed to claim the Presidency. As we write this, the Biden/Harris team is winning the popular vote by 4.5 million votes.

All over the country groups of supporters spontaneously gathered in crowds of dozens to thousands to party in the wake of the announcement. Times Square in New York was packed late into the evening. Under an "Arrest Trump" banner, Drum circles kept up a beat within earshot of the White House in Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington D.C.

Meanwhile an unhinged President Trump tweeted in all caps Saturday, "I WON THIS ELECTION, BY A LOT!" Making unsupported claims of voting irregularities, Trump promised to pursue overturning the Biden-Harris victory in court.

Sign Collection Event Turns Into A Party In The Sunshine

Volunteers heading to the sign collection event at NHCDP HQ on Saturday learned about the Biden/Harris victory on their way to work. One volunteer summed it up when she said she would be a bit late: "Holy cow, we did it! I need to finish sobbing and I'll be on my way." The weather cooperated with a beautiful day. Everybody enjoyed meeting the new puppy Ruth (named after RBG). Smiles were everywhere, though behind masks. We filled several dumpsters with signs and stands.
