Dear Neighbor,

The nation has spoken.

The shared community joy emanating from the streets of New York paints a clear picture that a better way is possible. I wholeheartedly congratulate U.S. President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris on their historic achievements in this momentous election.

Tracked by the New York Times, Queens county gave Joe an upwards margin of +39 points on Election Day. With nearly 600,000 residents voting for the Democratic ticket, our borough showcased itself as the bluest in the country.

This election showed us the enormous power grassroots organizing has in mobilizing and empowering marginalized communities—ensuring all voices were heard, and all votes were counted.

The next four years will be crucial. Throughout this Trump presidency, our communities have overcome adversity—signaling a clear message of unity and solidarity to the federal Administration:

Our neighbors are the loudest voices in our democracy.

Our neighbors stand up for one another throughout crisis and peril.

Our neighbors will always fight for progressive values on the local and national scale.

Only we possess the collective power to affect real change on the state and local level, and I stand alongside my colleagues in government to affirm our commitment to defend the values we hold sacred here in Queens.

Our movement is not defined by a single election—this movement revolves around the principles of uplifting the middle class and struggling New Yorkers. As reported by the Washington Post, President-Elect Biden plans on immediately rejoining the Paris climate accords, reversing President Trump’s withdrawal from the World Health Organization, repeal the ban on almost all travel from some Muslim-majority countries, and will reinstate the DACA program.

We’re here to hold him accountable to these promises—ensuring the voices of our New York neighbors resonate throughout the halls of the White House. Our campaign remains devoted to providing community residents with real solutions to systemic issues burdening working families across our state.

We wouldn't be able to do it without your support—thank you for celebrating this historic achievement with us.

In Solidarity,

Jessica Ramos
