Right after we hit send on our email yesterday (21 minutes later, to be precise), the networks officially called the election for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
The raucously joyous celebration was one of the best days in NYC in living memory. It was truly amazing to see and celebrate with so many of you in Prospect Park, on the 5th Avenue Open Street, at the march from Columbus Circle, and on every single block of our neighborhoods. Wow!
We saved our democracy from a tyrant in 2020. Now, it's time to transform our city in 2021. We need bold, progressive, citywide leadership to recover from the Covid-19 crisis, root out systemic racism, prepare for climate disaster, and build an economy that works for all of us.
Are you ready for our next victory, John? We're halfway to our $2,021 goal -- chip in $10 to make Brad our next NYC Comptroller and bring our city into the future → [[link removed]]

PREVIOUS EMAIL:
Dear John:
As the ballots keep coming in, it is now clear: Voters chose Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our next President and Vice President of the United States! Thank goodness.
I feel incredibly proud of the organizing we did together -- not just in the last few weeks, but over the last four years: Standing up to the Muslim ban, protecting our immigrant neighbors, saving health care away from millions of Americans, and overcoming a pandemic and voter suppression to win this election.
In the last two months, we built a team of nearly 800 volunteers across the city and made more than 150,000 calls to get out the vote in key states like Pennsylvania. Together, we moved the needle in this close, high-stakes election.
As this week ended, I found myself able to breathe for this first time in quite a while. So please take some time in the coming days to celebrate, recharge, and regroup. Because our work is far from finished.
This year has thrown our city’s crises into stark relief: Systemic racism, widening inequality, and leaders who fail again and again to meet this extraordinary moment.
And even with Trump out of the White House, and even if we take two Senate seats in Georgia (and we’ll be in touch about how you can help with that soon!), the transformative change we need won’t come from Washington.
So this is also clear: we need local leadership to ensure our city rebuilds a more just and equitable city and economy.
In 2021, our city will have one of the most consequential elections in our history. We will choose a new mayor, a new comptroller, and at least 38 out of 51 new members of the City Council. We can’t pass up this unique opportunity to change course, elect bold leaders, and build a city that truly puts people over profit.
My campaign for comptroller is about helping New York City rise to some of the greatest challenges we have ever faced. I’m so proud of the team we’re building -- and you are a critical part of it.
With the federal and state elections concluding, that race is now here. We have just three months until petitioning, and seven months until the primary. Our opponents are already stockpiling huge amounts of cash from lobbyists, for-profit developers, and the wealthiest donors in our city.
To stay in the fight, we’re setting the goal of $2,021 in grassroots contributions by the end of the weekend. Every $1 you donate will be matched by $8 in public financing -- can you chip in $10 or any amount to make sure NYC elects bold, progressive, values-driven leadership next year? [[link removed]]

Despite the challenges, after that dark night in 2016, we accomplished some amazing things together in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Now, let’s beat the odds in 2021, together.
