Thank you, Downriver. All the votes have been counted, and we won. 

 

When we began our time in office over four years ago, we believed that we could dream big to solve problems, tell Downriver’s story, and create change for our community.

 

From day one, we’ve made that vision a reality. After a tough campaign, I’m humbled and honored that the voters of the 23rd District have again entrusted us with two more years of being their voice in Lansing. Thank you so much for your trust and support in me, this team, and our work. We won’t let you down. 

 

I’m excited to continue our work to protect public education, fight for working families, and finally solving some of our train problems. I want to thank each and every person who has believed in us throughout this campaign — I couldn’t have done it without you.

 

To my family, friends, and supporters: You took a bet on my leadership when we were the underdogs, standing by my side through every battle we faced. And we won three times in a row--together. 

 

In particular, I want to thank my team -- a strong force of staff and volunteers who worked day and night for this victory, even during a pandemic. They were always willing to knock just one more door or make one more phone call to reach more community members. They even worked so hard that one of my interns cut his knuckles from knocking on so many doors. We left it all on the field and it paid off. 

 

Thank you to Tyler, Alissa, Ryan, Ian, Josh, Joe, Rachel, Meghan, Dora, Mary Jo, Steven, Terree, and the dozens of other volunteers who gave their time and talent to this cause. You’ll always be part of Team Camilleri, and this win is yours, too. 

 

Lastly, in this time of intense division, our voters have shown that you can earn their respect when you prioritize working hard, listening, and getting things done for them, and I look forward to two more years of doing just that.
