We did it! A historic number of Muslim voters joined over 74 million Americans in electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to be our next President and Vice President.
From his first Executive Order banning Muslims to his latest efforts to undermine our elections, Donald Trump has inflicted great damage on our nation and democracy. But no more. Americans from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including Muslim Americans, stepped-up and ensured that Donald Trump is a one-term president. Thank you.
Although final results are still forthcoming, our analysis of early returns in 12 important states indicates that at least 800,000 Muslims voted. Our country-wide effort to mobilize Muslim voters, with the Million Muslim Votes (MMV) campaign, played an important role in mobilizing a community that has been targeted and scapegoated. During the course of this campaign, Emgage and partner organizations made over 1.8 million calls and sent over 3.6 million text messages in support of the largest Muslim get out the vote effort to date.
Emgage Action is proud to have endorsed and campaigned for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, conducting numerous events to energize our community, including the historic Million Muslim Votes Summit with Joe Biden. We are excited to begin working with a Biden-Harris Administration on day one, beginning by repealing the Muslim Ban.
The MMV campaign centered its resources on key districts in Michigan and Pennsylvania for Muslim voter turnout, and we couldn’t be more proud with the results!
Early vote totals for Muslim Americans in Pennsylvania
In Pennsylvania, 170,000 calls were made to mobilize Muslims, contributing to a historic turnout of over 57,000 Muslim early and absentee votes, with over 12,000 in Philadelphia County alone.
Early vote totals for Muslim Americans in Michigan
In 2016, Michigan was decided by less than 11,000 votes. In these elections, over 81,000 Muslims voted early or via absentee ballots, with over 27,000 in Wayne County alone.
Total Muslim turnout as of now...
According to data released by 12 state electoral authorities and filtered by Emgage for likely Muslim voters, over 800,000 Muslim Americans have voted in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, Arizona, Wisconsin,Texas, Georgia, Illinois, New York, Ohio, and North Carolina. These figures are projected to increase as more results are tabulated.
We are exceedingly proud of how our community responded to the Trump administration's assault on our democracy and values. There is much work to be done together and we are excited to get started. But today, we celebrate this incredible victory.
