The American people have spoken and we congratulate President-elect Joe Biden on his resounding victory. Now is the time for Democrats to come together and act on the biggest crises of our time: climate change, systemic racism, public health, and inequality.

The American people didn't vote for Joe Biden in overwhelming numbers to let the Republican Party and Mitch McConnell rob Democrats of their ability to govern or pick our cabinet. Democrats will have defeated Trump by millions of votes. Biden must use his enormous mandate to fight for the American majority who elected him.

Republican leaders are working overtime to delegitimize the next four years of a Biden presidency only to turn around next year to demand that Biden co-govern with McConnell’s Senate and allow him to negotiate the next cabinet. If that happens, it will have been a robbery of this American majority and all but guarantee a depressed Democratic turnout in the 2022 midterms.

We’re going to do everything we possibly can to ensure that Biden’s cabinet reflects the will of the American people and hold President-elect Biden accountable to the movements that helped him defeat Donald Trump.
