We have worked so hard these past four years and today's breaking news of Joe Biden winning in the 2020 Election was so worth it all.
But we have seen what worked here in New Jersey:
Ballot drop boxes
Not requiring a postmark if received within 48 hours
The ability to track your ballot
Not allowing your vote to be rejected due to faulty envelopes
Giving voters the ability to cure their ballot due to signature issues and more
We, Action Together New Jersey, did this 👆. No other organization had the expertise, interest, or time to do this work. We were the ONLY organization doing this work and we got 3 election bills passed into law IN ONE YEAR. This critical year in our democracy and we did this. It is historic and unheard of. It is not being boastful but owning the narrative and taking credit where it is due.
What's next?
Expanding voter base by allowing 17yo to vote in the primary if they turn 18 prior to the General Election
Getting 1 ballot drop box per town
Getting ADA-compliant drop boxes so you can drive and drop
Amending the Ballot Cure Act to reduce ballot rejections even more
New legislation to require the Secretary of State to update and eliminate rejection codes.
