We did it. I’m honored to have won the election to remain your Congressman for California’s 17th district. And now, with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris as our newly elected president and vice president, we finally can fight the hate spread in the last 4 years.
From the start of this campaign, I was never focused on receiving political endorsements, or working within the establishment, but about standing up for our values no matter what.
We refused to take corporate PAC money so our loyalty could remain to the people. We ran a grassroots campaign for the people, by the people — and we wouldn’t have done it any other way.
And our movement has become even more powerful. Our progressive coalition in Congress grew as community leaders like Jamaal Bowman, Marie Newman, Teresa Fernandez, Mondaire Jones, and Cori Bush joined our fight in Washington. We are stronger than ever.
But one thing remains clear: we still have so much work to do. Many Americans expected a nationwide Democratic blowout, especially after the way Republicans have handled this pandemic, leaving the American people behind.
My promise to you is that I will continue to fight for the needs of the people. I will continue to fight against leadership centered around special interests. I will continue to push for policies that give people political, economic, environmental, gender, and medical equality for all.
I am so grateful to have such strong support and want to thank everyone in my district. Together, we voted for a future where a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, a strong 21st century economy, and more is possible.
We could not have run our campaign without you. Thank you for your support and your trust to represent this district again.
