Friend –

The 2020 election has been called. It may have been slow – at times excruciating – but our democracy worked as it should have and every vote will be counted. For his anti-civil rights and civil liberties agenda, Donald Trump was democratically and ceremoniously removed from the Oval Office by his employer: the American people. Over the past four years, we've witnessed some of the cruelest and most unconstitutional policies in our nation's history. But we've also seen millions of people come together to fight for justice, freedom, and equality. During this era, the ACLU filed over 400 legal actions against Trump – on immigrants' rights, LGBTQ rights, voting rights, reproductive rights, and more.

We fought the good fight together, ACLU Supporter. Your unwavering dedication to civil liberties fueled this work at every turn. And while we hope you can use this morning to take a breath, we also hope you'll be with us for what comes next.

Because while Trump's relentless attacks on our civil liberties will soon be over, it's clear we still have a lot of work to do to build an America where equality is not just an ideal of our Constitution – but a lived reality for all people.

We at the ACLU are here to do it. Right now, we are looking for the families of 545 children who still haven't been located after they were separated in immigration proceedings. We are representing LGBTQ rights and defending the census at the Supreme Court. We will forge a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million undocumented and stateless people living in the United States – without caveats or compromise. And we will continue to join the chorus calling for this nation's long overdue racial reckoning. Read more. <[link removed]>

ACLU Supporter, during a time marred by division and inequality, you were there with us to protect people's rights at every turn. Now, we hope we can count on your energy and determination again in this critical work that lies before us.

After all, it's never been about a party, one person, or a particular president. It's about holding all our leaders and institutions – local and national – accountable and boldly leading freedom forward.

The past four years showed us that together, we are powerful. Let's keep fighting until "we the people" means all of us.

With hope and conviction,

Anthony Romero
