Dear John,

This is a good day for progressive politics.

Biden’s victory means one thing: the push-back against nativism begins today!

Let’s make sure Britain is at the forefront of that fight-back. If we maintain a ‘Britain first’ outlook, we will face the same fate as Trump: alone and on the wrong side of history.

Global challenges require global responses. Our own government is failing on the COVID response, on co-operation and on delivering the European deal we were promised - I hope they’re taking notes..

There’s lots of work to do <[link removed]>. But today feels like a victory for decency, transparency and truth in politics. Best for Britain has always fought for these things and will keep fighting for all these things.

We will push those who share our values to work together to defeat nativists and to uphold internationalist values. We will fight against xenophobia <[link removed]>, and the causes of xenophobia. And we will work with other progressive organisations to further our cause.

Will you join the fight? If you are able, please donate so we can continue our battle for internationalism and democracy.

<[link removed]>Yes, I'll stand up and donate to the fight <[link removed]>

The Trump campaign waged a war on the democratic process, but today democracy prevailed.

The Brexit project and the Trump presidency were part of a troubling trend in geo-politics: a trend which wants to sow division and put up walls. But Biden’s victory bodes well for our mission. We too can turn the tide of nativism on our own shores.

And Biden has proven internationalist credentials. Ironically, the USA officially left the Paris Climate Accord this week. Let’s hope, along with championing NATO and the WHO, Biden can pave the way back towards global co-operation. <[link removed]>

Our polling shows Britons want to work with Europe and the world on education, science and security.

We will use our parliamentary experience, our proven understanding of data-driven politics and our public platform to champion internationalism, democracy and justice. But we need your support to keep going and keep growing.

Please, if you are able, donate to stem the tide of nativism and start on a road back to sanity.

I cautiously, but optimistically, believe that this is the point the world has started to turn its back on the politics of Trump and the politics of division.

This has been a deeply challenging year, and I want to thank you for sticking with us, and the wider cause, every step of the way.

I sincerely hope we will look back on this day as the beginning of the end of nativist politics.

Today let's celebrate. Tomorrow let's get to work.

Cal Roscow,

Director of Development
