John —
The will of the people is clear: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won and Donald Trump will be the first one-term president in nearly three decades.
In this election, millions of voters joined together across difference to demand a government that cares for all of us. Progressives who ran on a bold agenda of transformational change have been rewarded by the voters.
We’ve said from the beginning that this election would come down to turnout. That’s why early on we made huge investments in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, Texas and other states to build the winning coalition that ultimately made the difference in the presidential election. It’s clear those investments have paid off.
Here’s just some of what we were able to accomplish because of WFP supporters and donors like you:
In Pennsylvania, we:
- Spoke with over 80,000 voters
- Secured 47,293 early votes
- Registered 2,916 new voters
- Held 2,500+ volunteer shifts at early voting sites
- Recruited at least 30,000 voters to fill out absentee ballots
In Wisconsin, we:
- Sent 3.2 million GOTV texts
- Made 900,000 phone calls
- Got 90,000 commitments to vote from low propensity voters
- Held 2,000 volunteer shifts since Labor Day
In Georgia, we:
- Sent 1.4 million texts
- Made over 400,000 calls
In Arizona, we:
- Sent over 1 million texts
- Made over 150,000 calls
- Held over 400 volunteer shifts in the last 2 months
These numbers are just a small sample of what we accomplished together nationwide this year. They are proof of what’s possible when we do the work to organize our communities. But make no mistake: this victory is a doorway, not a destination.
During 2020, crisis after crisis has boiled over — from a global pandemic to an economic depression, from police violence against Black people to wildfires and hurricanes. In every case, Donald Trump either ignored the crisis or made it worse.
Now, Biden’s mandate — and obligation — is to tackle the crises Trump left in his wake, and to address them with solutions big enough to meet their scale. The multiracial working class that made Trump a one-term president will demand nothing less.
Thanks for being a part of this movement. Now let’s keep it going to build the country we deserve.
Onward,
All of us at WFP
