John,
It’s been 200 days since the House of Representatives passed H.R. 8, a bipartisan bill to expand Brady Background Checks to all gun sales. That’s 200 days that this lifesaving bill has collected dust on Mitch McConnell’s desk. And that’s another 20,000 people in America who have been killed by gun violence.
20,000 LIVES IS TOO MANY
Even after 200 days, a summer of back-to-back mass shootings, and tens of thousands of Americans burying their loved ones, Mitch McConnell STILL hasn’t brought this bill up for a vote, and President Trump continues to waffle.
While they wait, while they drag their feet, and while they continue to accept NRA donations, 100 Americans are killed by guns each day. Well, John, we’ve had enough. Our campaign to pressure the Senate is in full swing.
- We’ve delivered more than 80,000 emails, petitions, and phone calls on gun reform.
- We’ve sent staff, gun violence survivors, and other advocates to Capitol Hill.
- We’ve explained these bills in every way we can.
- We’ve shown Congress how desperately we need to take action AND how popular this legislation.
- NOW, we need to keep up the pressure!
Can you help fund this campaign to make sure we get background checks passed?
Thank you for all that you do,
— Jaime
