John,

Forward, Together.jpg

This week, almost 160 million Americans spoke by casting their ballot.
Then, countless election officials carefully began the task of
counting every vote to ensure that those 160 million Americans were
heard. It may feel like a lifetime, but ensuring that every vote was
counted is the cornerstone of our democracy, and the will of the
people has now been heard.

We now know Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be our next President and
Vice President. Decency and respect will be restored at the highest
level of our government. Trans people will once again have an ally in
the White House, and the work to advance our issues in earnest, rather
than fight discriminatory attacks, can begin.

We were so proud to have endorsed Joe Biden in this race, and it looks
like over 70 million other Americans saw what we saw, someone who
believes in equality and justice for all, not just some. We know that
in the Biden-Harris administration trans people will be involved, we
will be seen, and we will not be erased.

And, in a sign that trans people continue to be leaders in our
communities, we saw at least nine trans and nonbinary people elected
or re-elected to public office this year! This includes the first
openly trans person to be elected to any state senate, the first
openly nonbinary person elected to any state house, and the first
openly trans state legislators in Kansas and Vermont. We have so much
to be proud of.

Today, we celebrate this tremendous victory. Tomorrow, we get back to
the business of ensuring our government properly protects trans lives.
We'll tackle issues like expanding healthcare, extending
non-discrimination protections, and overhauling the criminal justice
system. It's time to move forward, together.
Sincerely,
