  • Immigrants who have naturalized had an impact in the 2020 election in crucial states, including Arizona and Florida. The American Immigration Council provides fact sheets that highlight demographic data on immigrant populations in every state.

 ACROSS THE NATION 

  • A federal court confirmed that hundreds of asylum seekers may receive relief from application of the asylum ban if they were turned away before July 16, 2019. The ruling was made in a case challenging the government’s policy of turning away asylum seekers at ports of entry since 2016. The lawsuit was filed by the Council, Al Otro Lado, Southern Poverty Law Center, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and Mayer Brown LLP.
