Hello, Friends —

All of America is waiting breathlessly for election results, but, as of the time of writing this — 2 p.m. on Friday, November 6 — things are still up in the air.

My colleagues and I hope that all legal votes will soon be counted fairly (if not expeditiously).

One thing is clear: Florida’s speed and efficiency at processing its election results is a model for the rest of the nation.

GOLD STAR FAMILIES MEMORIAL MONUMENT

Next Wednesday is Veterans Day, a day for America to honor all those who have served in the military. Veterans Day is of particular importance to Northwest Florida, given our district’s deep, rich, and storied connection to the United States Armed Forces.

At 11:00 a.m., the Veterans Memorial Park Foundation of Pensacola will dedicate a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, in a ceremony officiated by World War Two hero, and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Hershel “Woody” Williams.

Trumpism’s next act

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz may be the only full-spectrum Trumpist to have emerged. Some Republicans are with Trump on trade or immigration but not ending “endless wars”; others are with Trump on foreign policy but not immigration or populism; still others share his ability to connect with conservative cable news viewers but no distinctive policy program.

Gaetz slams FBI probe into Texas Trump supporters surrounding Biden bus

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., took to Twitter Sunday to criticize the FBI’s decision to open an investigation into an incident caught on video that showed cars with Trump flags surrounding a Biden campaign bus traveling in Texas. “If you need any further proof that the FBI will look for any reason to target Trump supporters,” Gaetz tweeted, while linking out to a New York Post article.

It’s Still Trump’s GOP, Not Liz Cheney’s

Following Tuesday’s results, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming will join Rand Paul and Mike Lee in the U.S. Senate, while Nancy Mace of South Carolina will lock arms with Representatives Thomas Massie and Matt Gaetz. Both women are vetted and proven war skeptics who are determined to challenge Liz Cheney at every turn.
