Welcome to This Week at LIRS!

Every week, we catch you up on what's new at LIRS—from upcoming events to media appearances, important immigration updates, and more.
On Monday, we officially kicked off our Hope for the Holidays campaign with an introductory webinar. Each year, with the support of hundreds of partners across the country, LIRS collects holiday cards and donations for gifts to share hope with children and families affected by immigration detention. Join us!

ICYMI: Last month, LIRS CEO Krish O'Mara Vignarajah joined the Truman Project's TruCon 2020 conference as part of a fascinating panel entitled "Pandemic as Pretext: Immigration Faces Authoritarianism," which explored the intersection of national security and immigration policy.

A Prayer for Election Uncertainty

Good and gracious God,

We gather here today, as a community of warriors for justice, in a state of uncertainty. We ask for guidance, peace, and calm on these troubled waters. Slow hurried minds, quiet anxious hearts, and be with us as we await the final results of the election.

We pray for election officials and the peaceful advocates for democracy. We give thanks to those who are spending sleepless nights to ensure a free and fair election. Grant safety for all those who may find themselves in harm's way.

We ask for healing in this divided nation, O God. Help us to mend our wounds, extend the helping hand, care for the most vulnerable, and begin on the path towards mutual understanding and reconciliation.
Guide us, lead us, and renew us as we continue to do your work with our hands.

Amen.

Andrew G. Steele, LIRS VP of Development and Outreach
