Making History

As we close out the week, I can't help but reflect on this election as another historic year for your Indiana Republican Party. Governor Holcomb and Lt. Governor Crouch made history with the all-time Indiana record for votes cast in a governor's race...and they matched the largest margin of victory in a governor's race in modern history. Right at 7 p.m. as the polls closed, the race was called.

Every year as a party we think that we've hit our high-water mark -- perhaps in 2016 when President Trump and Vice President Pence won Indiana by 20 points, in 2018 when now-Senator Mike Braun defeated Joe Donnelly, or in 2019 when we elected an all-time high number of Republican mayors.

But in 2020, together we shattered the records again.

On Tuesday, Indiana was once again the first state on the board for the Trump-Pence ticket.

Democrats thought for sure they had a shot at the attorney general's office or the Fifth District congressional seat, but Attorney General-elect Todd Rokita and Congresswoman-elect Victoria Spartz proved them wrong.

We protected our supermajority in the Indiana Senate and grew that supermajority in the Indiana House by four seats. And across the state, we won countywide offices at an all-time record level, which is a true credit to our hardworking county chairs across the state.

Together, we simply weren't tired of winning. Across the state and up and down the ballot, we put in the work, and it's reflected in the results.

Indiana has long been a leader in conducting elections in a manner where all Hoosiers can have confidence in the results – and that once again happened this year.

As for the race for president, I, and many others over the past few days, have been stunned by the endless stream of ballot issues, irregularities and claims from other states. We are a country of laws and to have a free and fair election those laws must be followed. I fully support the president and vice president utilizing all legal means at their disposal to ensure that the 2020 election results are above reproach and that each and every legal vote has been counted.

Thank you to everyone who helped us make history this week. This one's for you, and for Hoosiers across our state who want a government that gives them results.

Governor Holcomb's Week That Was

We Did It!

On Tuesday, Eric Holcomb officially was reelected as Indiana’s governor. And he didn’t just win – he won with the most votes ever received by a gubernatorial candidate in Indiana history and matched the largest margin of victory in modern history. The race was called right at 7 p.m. Eastern as the polls officially closed in Indiana, showing the overwhelming support Hoosiers showed for Governor Holcomb statewide.

The victory speech – which you should watch in its entirely here – wrapped up another busy week for Governor Holcomb, as he traveled through the state talking with Hoosiers, with stops just in the last week meeting with folks at the Cone Place in Kokomo (corn dogs!), Fair Oaks Farms (milkshakes!), the Martinsville Candy Company (candy canes!), and Schimpff’s Confectionery (red hots!).

“Around here in Indiana, we don't just dream big thing. We do big things and we aspire to be a positive influence all along the way.”

Now that the results in Indiana are in, let’s follow Governor Holcomb’s lead and get busy continuing to build One Indiana for All!
