Texas Voters Send Pro-Life & Pro-Religious Freedom Message

While votes in the Presidential election are still being counted in several states across the country, one thing is clear in Texas – pro-abortion and anti-religious freedom Democrats failed to turn Texas blue. The heavily predicted blue wave in Texas hit a red, pro-life wall! President Donald Trump won Texas, as did every statewide Republican on the ballot. Notably, despite unprecedented spending by out-of-state Leftists to take control of the Texas House, Republicans will hold onto their 83-67 majority in the Texas House.

Key to holding the Texas House, were strong victories by numerous Texas Values Action endorsed candidates in hotly contested races. In Harris County, Texas Values Action endorsed Mike Schofield and Lacey Hull won races against pro-abortion Democrats. In Collin County, Texas Values Action endorsed Rep. Matt Shaheen and Rep. Jeff Leach both won re-election and defeated radical pro-abortion and pro-LGBT Democrats in hotly contested races. Another huge victory for life and religious freedom was Texas Values Action endorsed Congressman Chip Roy defeating Texas’ most well-known pro-abortion radical, Wendy Davis.

Phelan used his power last session to advance the LGBT agenda and we have not forgotten. We recommend that Republican House members ask any speaker candidate to publicly pledge their support to the 8 Legislative Priorities that thousands of grassroots Texas Republicans overwhelming voted to support this year at the Texas GOP convention. Religious Liberty Case Argued at SCOTUS

The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments this week in Philadelphia v. Fulton, a case involving the question of whether religious adoption providers can serve families in child placement services. Newly confirmed Justice Amy Coney Barrett, along with eight other justices, listened to arguments and occasionally pursued lines of questioning with lawyers from each side.
