Returns in several swing states -- including Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania -- continue to fluctuate as election authorities process the remaining ballots, especially mail-in and absentee votes. Large portions of these ballots are breaking for former vice president Joe Biden -- marking the “blue shift” that experts predicted we’d see in the days following November 3.
We should emphasize: what’s happening now means our democratic institutions are working. And it’s our job to let them work.
But Donald Trump doesn’t want accuracy -- he wants to win by any means necessary. That’s why he illegitimately claimed victory on Election Night, telling supporters of the ballot count, “This is a major fraud in our nation.” And in an email early Wednesday morning, Mike Pence alleged that “it’s only a matter of time before the Democrats try to steal the Election and manipulate the results.”
