John, thanks to you and every person who fought alongside me, we’re well on our way to enacting our bold, progressive agenda.

Not only did we hold the House, but we also expanded our progressive majority by electing eight new promising trailblazers that will lead the next generation forward.

John, will you join me in celebrating these new progressive members of the House?

Marie Newman (IL-03): Marie grew up in Chicago’s Southwest Side and served as a state and national advocate for income equality, LGBTQIA+ rights, and more. As a Congresswoman, she’ll fight for a $15 minimum wage, Medicare for All, and student debt relief.

Nikema Williams (GA-05): Nikema supports Medicare for All and will work to ensure every American is able to receive the care they deserve. She’ll fight for legislation that protects voting rights and demand the Senate pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

Cori Bush (MO-01): Cori is a lifelong resident of St. Louis. She is a courageous leader who is dedicated to eradicating targeted, hateful discrimination. Cori will work to enact federal policies to protect and uplift all people through prison, criminal justice, and immigration reform.

Jamaal Bowman (NY-16): Jamaal was born and raised in New York City and spent his early years in public housing or rent-controlled apartments. He envisions a future where all students have an equal shot at a fulfilling life, career, and future regardless of where they grew up.

Kai Kahele (HI-02): As an 18-year veteran, Kai understands that the safety of America and its people is built on the strength of our leadership. He’ll support initiatives to re-assert our allegiance to democratic countries while working to elevate democracy and human rights across the world.

Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-03): As a Congresswoman, Teresa will work to ensure an inclusive community in her district. She’ll work with Pueblos in Northern New Mexico to build rural health clinics, fight for Medicare for All, advocate for rural policies, and invest in rural communities.

Ritchie Torres (NY-15): Ritchie Torres was born and raised in the Bronx and is the product of public housing, schools, and hospitals. As a Congressman, he’ll join both the Hispanic and Black Caucuses to fight for quality health care, housing, schools, jobs and stand up for immigrants, seniors, and youth.

Mondaire Jones (NY-17): As a Congressman, Mondaire will fight for working families and help enact labor laws to protect workers’ rights and advocate for our LGBTQIA+ community to make long-overdue, lasting changes to their housing and health care access through Medicare for All.
There is no doubt how incredibly important it was that we kept our House majority and expanded the number of progressive members in Congress.

These new members will fight hard to do what’s right for all Americans and deliver on the issues that matter most — like health care, COVID-19 relief, raising the minimum wage, and protecting our civil rights.

While we wait in anticipation of the final election results, we can rest assured that these new members of the House will have our backs no matter who the next president of the United States will be.

Thank you for everything you’ve done to keep this progressive movement going.

In solidarity,

Barbara Lee
