** It's like they're not even trying to hide it anymore.

Washington Post ([link removed]) (7/10/19) reports: "On a Wednesday morning in late May, emissaries of two of the strongest political voices on climate change convened at a coffee shop a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol. Saikat Chakrabarti, chief of staff to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), was there to meet Sam Ricketts, climate director for Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), who is running for president almost exclusively on a platform of combating global warming...Chakrabarti had an unexpected disclosure. 'The interesting thing about the Green New Deal,' he said, 'is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all.' Ricketts greeted this startling notion with an attentive poker face. 'Do you guys think of it as a climate thing?' Chakrabarti continued. 'Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.'"

** "The heated rhetoric of anti-oil activists belies the fact that the vast majority of the state’s 40 million people depend directly or indirectly upon 26 million reliable, economical, and increasingly clean fuel-efficient vehicles with internal combustion engines that need gasoline and diesel to operate."

It's not magic. It's oil and gas making a splash in the land of enchantment.

(7/10/19) reports: "ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- The New Mexico State Land Office announced Wednesday that it expects to bring in more than $1 billion this fiscal year. 'The bulk of this money comes from the boom that we're experiencing now in the oil and gas industry here in New Mexico,' said State Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard...Garcia Richard said the state experienced a 36% increase in money from the oil and gas industry...'This means is that New Mexico's taxpaying families will save about $1,500 per year, per family,' she said."
Will they also be providing gas pumps for the other 98% of drivers visiting the parks?

(7/11/19) reports: "A bill filed Wednesday by Rep. Mike Levin would provide millions of dollars for the federal agencies governing U.S. national parks and forests to facilitate the installation of electric car charging stations to promote the use of zero-emission vehicles on public lands...With nearly 600 forests, parks, monuments, and other areas under the jurisdiction of the NPS and USFS, the cost of the charging station installation program could cost dozens of millions of dollars...The electric car market is still fledgling, though it has seen mostly steady growth since 2011, around which time the Chevy Volt, Prius Plug-in, Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model S first hit the market. By the end of 2018, electric cars represented 2.1 percent of the light vehicle market share in the U.S., according to figures compiled by the Electric Vehicle World Sales Database."
If it makes people happy, there will be bureaucrats who want to ban it to "stop" climate change.

(7/11/19) reports: "Global warming emissions generated through online video viewing have reached an alarming level, according to a study by The Shift Project, a French think tank. In 2018, 300 million tons of CO2 were emitted this way. This is about the annual carbon dioxide emissions of Spain or 1% of global emissions, the researchers say. And the vast majority of it is entertainment...'While our current consumption patterns are directly responsible for our inability to reduce our carbon footprint, we still tend to balk at the idea of changing them,' said Hugues Ferreboeuf...In addition to changing individual behavior, new Europe-wide legislation and a change in how video platforms are designed are needed. Features, like autoplay or embedded videos, which aim to maximize video consumption should be limited, according to the think tank."
Finally, a race to be excited about.

(7/11/19) reports: "Former Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R) launched her campaign today for Wyoming's Senate election next year with a promise to stand up for the state's fossil fuel-heavy energy industry...'I won't back from down from harmful socialist ideas like the Green New Deal that would bankrupt Wyoming and the energy industry. And I'll fight every day in the U.S. Senate to make sure that never happens,' she said. In her time in the House, Lummis frequently fought back any efforts to curtail the production or use of coal or oil. Wyoming ranks No. 1 in the nation in coal production and No. 6 in oil, according to the Energy Information Administration."
