I'm Smiley, the Executive Director of national Jobs with Justice. I am so excited to be joining you for the I'll Be There Awards on November 18th!
DC JWJ and JWJ affiliates around the country do the hard work of building worker and community power. We stand for democracy and solidarity, which is why 2020 has been such an important year for our network. From standing with essential workers, to ensuring we Count Every Vote, to innovating new responses to this moment, our coalitions are standing up for our values. I am thrilled to be presenting the Giant and Safeway workers of UFCW 400 with an award this year. Early in 2020, they stood up to their corporate bosses - including hedge funds - and won! Since that victory they have been on the front lines, essential workers keeping communities fed.
